The Town of Truckee is looking for a Senior Planner to join the Community Development Department’s Planning Division. This role will work collaboratively on complex current and long-range planning projects and support staff in their decision-making process. The ideal candidate will be a steadfast leader who is a creative, out-of-the-box thinker. Someone who can navigate conflict and clearly communicate with others is highly desirable for this role. Core job duties include diffusing challenging situations, researching planning issues, and representing the Town at various meetings. They will also contribute to a highly skilled, collaborative, and welcoming team of fellow planners. An innovative leader who understands how collaborative efforts enhance the ability to provide best-in-class service will do well in this position. The successful candidate will have a record of straightforward and open communication and a willingness to make effective decisions within the parameters of the position, as well as the ability to effectively manage conflicting perspectives and priorities. They will also have a strong background in project management and program administration. A candidate with a strong record of collaborative work with internal and external stakeholders would be highly valued, as the Senior Planner must be able to develop positive relationships with staff, other Town departments, the public, and several external agencies.
