Dozens of Milpitas city employees will see the restoration of pay and retirement benefits lost during the Great Recession under three new labor agreements between city workers and management.
Unions representing Milpitas' finance, engineering and clerical personnel haveagreed to new deals that collectively include $1.13-million in restoration of pay and retirement benefits lost during the most recent economic downturn.
The Milpitas City Council voted unanimously to approve the agreements.
Workers will see a 4-percent employee California Public Employees' Retirement System restoration for the full pay period upon adoption of the contract.
Workers will receive an additional 4-percent employee PERS restoration on the first full pay period that includes July 1, 2015, reports sate.
A new deal for Milpitas Public Works Department employees includes a 6.5-percent salary restoration the first full pay period upon adoption of the memorandum of understanding, city reports state.
Those workers will also see a 3.5 percent salary restoration for the first full pay period that includes July 1, 2015.
