THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our ideal candidate will possess experience in broad IT principals including experience with Cisco, Microsoft, and Intel platforms.  An IT professional with skilled experience related to infrastructure and data systems, cyber security, program and system management in a local government setting. Seeking a team leader with strong analytical and project management skills to play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation, continuous improvement, and transformational impact of City systems. The incumbent must have the ability to manage a team of skilled professionals and coordinate departmental work with that of other departments and outside agencies. As we continue to expand our services and drive digital transformation, we are seeking a talented and experienced IT Manager to lead our City’s innovation and technology strategies. As our IT Manager, you will be joining a highly service-oriented team of technical professionals who are passionate about our customers, community, and technical solutions.

Knowledge of:
Hardware and software characteristics of various computer systems and a general understanding of system features and their integration capabilities.
Systems design and development process, including requirements analysis, feasibility studies, software design, programming, beta testing, installation, evaluation, and operational management.
Hardware and software security controls and risk management including access control; business continuity and disaster recovery planning; cryptography; legal regulations, investigations and compliance; some physical (environmental) security; security architecture and design, telecommunications, and network and cyber security.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the development and administration of computer systems, telecommunication systems, and local area networks, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license upon appointment.
May be required to complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training.
