The Huntington Beach City Council voted on a litany of controversial proposals Tuesday during a marathon meeting that dragged on until the early hours of the morning.

Childish, shameful, appalling. Those are just some of the words constituents used to describe Carlsbad City Councilmember Melanie Burkholder during an emotional meeting on July 11.

The Pride Flag will no longer be displayed outside Redlands City Hall during Pride Month.  

Solvang leaders’ recent rejection of Pride banners belies the “genuine warmth and acceptance” of LGBTQ individuals across Denmark, she said. 

The commemorative months, which are meant to celebrate diversity, are "exclusionary," the council majority claims. 

Seventeen California cities have earned perfect scores (100/100) from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for inclusive policies and services toward the LGBTQ community.
